That ol’ Golden Rule…

Day 209 of #LiveWell2017

Day 209 treat people

Day 4 of mindfully practicing Elementary School Rules…When I was growing up, we learned the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Translated into elementary school lingo, it goes: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Think about that for a moment. How do you want to be treated? What kind of actions and words from other people make you feel loved, safe, happy, secure, valued? What can you say and do to and for others that will make them feel that way?

Today, let’s focus our practice on treating others the way we want to be treated. Choose one or two specific behaviors to work on, or when an opportunity presents itself – at work or on the street or at home or the grocery store – stop for a moment before you act. What can you do to make someone feel loved, safe, happy, secure, or valued? How can your actions change that person’s day in a positive way? How would you want to be treated if you were that person i that particular situation?

Share what you did or what you noticed about yourself.
