Day 355 of #LiveWell2017
“Without music, life would be a mistake.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
As I started to write this, it occurred to me that I’ve already written about giving music to kids by donating to causes that promote music in schools. So, today I’m going to give you another option for the gift of music. Give songs, CDs or albums (they still make those, right?), concert tickets, subscriptions to streaming music services, anything that puts music in the ears of your recipient (and helps a struggling local artist, maybe).
CDBaby is a great place to find great, independent talent (like Jim Pipkin or The Talbott Brothers). Pandora, Spotify, and iHeartRadio are streaming services. You can check Ticketmaster or Ticketfly for concert tickets, or stroll through your local, independent music store for good old fashioned CDs, tapes, and albums.
Off course, if you have talent – or even if you don’t – you can always serenade your beloved with a song sung or played by you. That would be the coolest music gift of all!
As Nietzche said, “Without music, life would be a mistake.” Music is so universally a part of the human experience, that it could be the one thing that unites us all some day. Music tells our stories, speaks our truths, bares our souls, and touches our emotions.
Give the gift of music to someone you love.
