We’ve all heard it: “Laughter is the best medicine.” Indeed, laughing releases all those feel-good chemicals and decreases stress hormones in our bodies. Laughing also increases immune cells, protects your heart, and even burns calories. So, yeah, it’s pretty good medicine.

So, what a great gift to give someone – a reason to laugh! Honestly, I think that is why I fell in love with my husband. When we first met, he made me laugh. And it felt so good to laugh. I’m not naturally funny, and it takes just the right moment or thing to happen to make me laugh. So, I knew when I laughed so easily in his company, there was something special about him. Even today he can make me laugh when I need it the most.

If you can make someone laugh, that is a wonderful gift.

Not sure how to do it? Here are some ideas about how to make someone laugh, but honestly, just listening to kids talk is always a great way to laugh. Remember the old TV show, “Kids Say the Darnedest Things”?

Lucy Sunshine, age 3, says: “My belly button is here so food doesn’t fall out of me. I buttoned it this morning.”

Animals are usually good subjects, too. Watch this squirrel try to bury a nut in a dog’s fur…

Have fun today. Go laugh a little.
