Day 332 of #LiveWell2017
I woke up this morning and reached for my book of inspiration, flipped randomly to a page, and found this:
The Way to Start a Day by Byrd Baylor
The way to start a day is this –
Go outside and face the east and greet the sun with some kind of blessing or chant or song that you made yourself and keep for early morning…When you feel the sun, you’ll feel the song, too…
A morning needs to be sung to…
Some people say there is a new sun every day, that it begins its life at dawn and lives for one day only. They say you have to welcome it. You have to make the sun happy. You have to make a good day for it. You have to make a good world for it to live its one-day life in…
And then I sat, facing the east, and quietly watched the sun rise above the horizon, offering my own song to the new day, and being grateful that I am here to live in it.
There is magic in the sunrise, in the morning moments between night and day. The birds begin to sing and flit around among the trees, coming to the feeder for a treat. The leaves brighten as the first rays of sun filter through them. The sun’s warmth nudges the cold of night away, and watching it rise fills my soul with light and hope.
Today is another opportunity to create goodness, to live life well, to make the sun happy.
Create a great day.
