How to start your day

Day 328 of #LiveWell2017

Day 328 start day with love, peace, joy

How you start your day can impact everything you do for the rest of the day. If you wake up tired, in a bad mood, in pain, or your first thought is “do I have to get up?”, then you know you are setting yourself up for that negative attitude to govern how you respond or react to every single thing that follows during the day. That’s why morning habits are so important, no matter what time you wake up. The first few things we do each morning set the tone, establish our mental attitudes, and steer us in the direction we’re going today. So, why not start the day with habits that help make us feel good and prepare us to create a great day?

What those morning habits are will be different for each one of us. I’ve tweaked mine over the years, and continue to do so. Currently, my morning routine consists of: drinking a glass of water, meditating, stretching, reading a few inspiring pages, journaling or writing, and walking. This morning after my meditation I discovered a conversation in my meditation community (on the Insight Timer app) about positive music. Mentioned in the thread was a musician named Karen Drucker. So, I looked her up and the very first song I found was “I Start My Day.” It’s a simple, sweet, positive message about starting the day with love, peace, and joy!, and I’m adding it to my morning routine! After all, who wouldn’t benefit from starting their day with love, peace, and joy?

Take a listen…and then go out and create a great day!
