O.M.Goodness! This story may have gone viral by now. I don’t know. But, when I saw it, I knew I had to share it with you.
Mother A was on a plane alone (without her kids, for a change) when her plane was delayed on the tarmac. During the hour-long delay and several rows behind her, a couple of children with single Mother B began crying and fussing. Mother B was trying to do all she could to calm the kids, but they would have none of it (as often happens with toddlers and infants, right?). Other passengers close by started getting upset with the kids, the crying, and the mother. One passenger allegedly even grabbed one of the toddlers legs for kicking the back of her seat. Apparently the flight attendants were not helping much, so Mother A got up and went back to Mother B and asked if she could help, perhaps by holding the crying infant. Mother A took the infant to her seat and the baby stopped crying, so she spent the trip snuggled with this baby, helping out Mother B and all the rest of the passengers on the flight.
This was a spontaneous act of kindness from one understanding mother to another, strangers perhaps, but kindred all the same. Mother A posted this story to Facebook asking others to simply be kind to others, show some compassion, and offer to help when you can. A simple request.
We all suffer. We all have difficulties sometimes. We are one human family. Let’s treat each other the way we’d want to be treated. Let’s be Mother A when the opportunity arises.
