Day 199 of #LiveWell2017
Last week while biking home, I passed this sunflower growing out of a storm drain. It was the second time in just a few weeks I’d noticed a plant growing in an odd place. It occurred to me that these were great metaphors for making the most of life, even when circumstances are not ideal.
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that are unpleasant or imperfect for us. Sometimes we start out in a job we hate or end up living in a place that is boring or doesn’t fit our needs. Of course, any time we are in a situation that is dangerous or unhealthy, we need to change it as soon as we can. In the meantime, though, finding joy in small moments, being aware of our feelings and surroundings, and being mindful of others can help make life more bearable, more interesting, and even more joyful.
Bloom where you are. Seek the sunlight of life. Breathe in the moments, because now is all there ever is…one moment at a time.
